Inside Edition recently carried a story you might find interesting. Kathy Magruder found a leather-bound book in the back of a retirement home library in Iowa. She immediately knew it was something special.
“When I opened it up, the pages, they make a noise when you turn them that’s a little different from a new book,”

“The book smells a little different than any other book, and that’s when I knew it was probably worth looking into more.”
The book was a 318-year-old copy of the King James Bible. Its pages certainly sound a little different from a new book, and it is definitely worth looking into.

(Might be good as an introduction as you direct listeners to the biblical passage)

Key Texts

2 Chronicles 34:19-21 (ESV):
And when the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes. And the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the secretary, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, “Go, inquire of the Lord for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do according to all that is written in this book.”

1 Corinthians 2:12-13 (ESV):
“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.”

Hebrews 4:12 (ESV):
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
