The Bible Has No Serious Values for Minors

“You’ll no doubt find that the Bible (under state law) has ‘no serious values for minors’

In June, a suburban Utah school district banned the Bible in elementary and middle schools, citing concerns about the suitability of certain verses for younger students. The Davis School District, serving 72,000 students north of Salt Lake City, made this decision following a review prompted by a parent’s complaint.

The district, complying with a 2022 state law, had already removed other books, such as Sherman Alexie’s “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” and John Green’s “Looking for Alaska,” due to their classification as “sensitive material.”
“Utah Parents United left off one of the most sex-ridden books around: The Bible. . . You’ll no doubt find that the Bible (under state law) has ‘no serious values for minors’ because it’s pornographic by our new definition.”
According to CBS affiliate KUTV, the district’s review committee found that while the Bible did not meet the state law’s criteria for sensitive material, it did contain elements of vulgarity or violence deemed unsuitable for younger students. The committee did not specify which passages were considered problematic.
